Just found this site, they have some fantastic “alternative” badges.
Great to use when student need to calm down and relax.
This is a fantastic craft project that I’m going to file for my mentoring group.
But how to you make colored water? Break open some markers, or highlighters for some blacklight-glowjuice, and add the ink to the water.
A calm jar. I need one of these. You fill the jar with colored water and glitter. When you are upset you shake the jar and have to watch it until the glitter completely settles. The time it takes is enough time for you to settle your emotions.

Also good to use in the classroom are relaxation scripts and breathing techniques.

Intense Tents from Field Candy
Website Field Candy are offering designer tents for sale (at a fairly expensive price). They are workable tents with interesting designs, I LOVE the quilt one! I so want one of these to take on jamboree, mainly so that I’ll never lose my tent among the thousands which will be there.
In keeping with the theme of recycled holiday trim, and for the festively ambitious, give your folding skills a try with this origami star garland made from holiday mailers.

DIY Woven Danish Heart Baskets. I really love this craft - cheap, easy, pretty homemade (if you follow me you know there is also ugly homemade), and a great end result! These are made out of felt but you can use construction paper. For the entire tutorial go to Radmegan in Words and Pictures here. She has more color combinations and a very clear video on her site (that I just watched that makes everything crystal clear on the weaving). Another site going onto my ever growing bloglovin list! *P.S. I know I get overly excited about certain crafts I see that I love, and that is downright strange on tumblr, but what I think are my best posts are never tagged DIY or Crafts and put on the popular board… sigh… just like High School. *can I take back that last sentence?
This makes me damn proud to still be a part of the Girl Scout organization! I’m glad they’re making a statement of support instead of staying quiet or saying that the decision is up to the leader.
Now we just have to make sure our leaders and volunteers are supportive of ALL of our girls.
I’m loving this news.

Just discovered this website, Badge Freaks, which makes amusing badges for Girl Guides/Scouts, Boy Scouts and schools. Fantastic!
